On July 15th, a few NCAS Fellows participated in the White House Champions of Change for Climate Equity event.  The invited Fellows were graduate students, Michelle Dovil, Kafayat Olayinka, Shadya Sanders, Emily Saunders, and Daniel Yeager.

As part of The White House Champions of Change program, this event featured a select group of Americans who are doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire their communities, including enabling low-income and underserved communities to prepare for, adapt to, and thrive in the face of climate change.

Emily Saunders remarked, …”The event was highly informative to us all and truly opened our eyes to the topic of climate equity, and what is being done across the nation to help underprivileged communities benefit from the government policies for climate change.”

One of the Champions of Change for Climate Equity is Howard University alumnus, Mr. Gilbert Campbell, co-founder of Volt Energy, a renewable energy development firm.
