Originally, from Hampton, Virginia, Emily Morgan grew up with a strong foundation in both sciences and the arts. After graduating with the Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology/Mathematics from the University of Miami, she began working for the Naval Oceanographic Office at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi as a civilian oceanographer. After two years of unique, in-office work and sea surveys abroad, Emily decided to continue her academic career in Albany, New York at the State University of NY, Albany. She aims to use her successes and projects during her graduate education to pursue a career as a research scientist.

Current Research

Emily is working towards developing a refined cloud detection algorithm in pursuance of the DSCOVR EPIC research goals, incorporating the robust radiative transfer packages LBLRTM and DISTORT, with a physical foundation in oxygen a- and b-band absorption theory.
