Devoun Stewart is a second year PhD student in the HU Department of Chemistry. My academic career started at the University of the West Indies, Mona (Jamaica) where I successfully completed a double major Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry. After completing my undergraduate studies, I was given the opportunity to look at the health effects of ambient aerosol particles at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. This is where I became interested in Atmospheric Sciences and as a result, I decided to purse similar work for my graduate studies. I am currently developing my research proposal under the guidance of Dr. William Stockwell and Dr. Vernon Morris.

Current Research

I am interested in studying the interaction of atmospheric gases such as ozone and NOx on mineral dust surfaces.

I was awarded the Department of Chemistry ‘Outstanding Graduate Student’ Award for the 2014-2015 academic year.

I successfully passed my comprehensive exams.
