This program is funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Educational Partnership Program (EPP), and is designed to provide motivated, undergraduate U.S. citizens, who are interested in graduate study in the physical sciences, mathematics, or engineering with research training, experience, and opportunities for professional growth and networking.

Nine (9) Weeks: May 28th – July 31st (Tentative)
NCAS is seeking outstanding students who are motivated for future graduate study in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or social sciences to apply for the summer research internship program. Scholars with backgrounds in mathematics, chemistry, physics, meteorology, environmental sciences, and engineering are encouraged to apply. Fully-supported undergraduates are also welcome to apply.

Research Areas (Immersive):
The range of areas include the atmospheric and environmental sciences from laboratory studies, modeling and data analysis, to environmental observations and societal impacts. Each participant’s research interests and abilities will be matched with a NCAS faculty professor or NOAA scientist, and the needs of their research projects.

Internship Benefits:
The internship stipend is competitive for a nine (9)-week period. In addition to the stipend; travel expenses to and from the research site, housing, and some funds for meals, will be provided. Programmatically, seminars on federal sector careers, graduate school funding, professional development, as well as a Technical Writing Course, will also be conducted during the summer.  The start date is flexible but preferably within the first weeks of June 2017.
