On November 3, 2015, Ms. Mayra Oyola successfully defended her Dissertation titled, “Implementation of a Global Dust Physical SST Retrieval for Operational NWP Applications”

Dr. Oyola will begin her Post Doctoral Fellowship at the Naval Research Laboratory, in Monterey, CA. Dr. Oyola will focus on satellite data assimilation and support of the Navy Aerosol Analysis and Prediction System.

On November 5, 2015, Mr. Lorenza Cooper, II successfully defended his Dissertation titled, “Application of the Ground-Based Microwave Radiometer Profiler in Nowcasting Mesoscale Convective Weather: the Case of the 29 June 2012 Derecho.”

Dr. Cooper will be working at Booz | Allen | Hamilton,as an Applications Developer.  Dr. Cooper will be using GIS to perform geospatial analyses and working with the Sea, Lake, and Overland Surges from Hurricanes (SLOSH) model.
